"I Gotta Win!! If you ain't first, you're last. You know what I'm talking about?"-Ricky Bobby

This feels like a concert tee situation...I can't resist that kind of memorabilia(no matter how expensive!)-Things are just SO much more enticing with the roar of a crowd wafting in from an arena!! It's like, "80 bucks for a koozie?! ABSOLUTELY-I'll take it!!" I have an intense need for logo...ed items!
I bet I'm a huge advertisement for a local kids softball team since I bought most of their used team shirts at a thrift store-biatches owe me money!!
But-THIS shirt isn't from a concert-It's from somewhere BETTER-the mind of my friend, Amanda (aka: The Fancy Lady) at 'Cupcakes and Corsets'! It's free and the owl topper is SO magical, right?!!
They're company logo tees featuring her ESTY bake shop(under TabbyCat13) where she makes cupcakes, cookies, and other oven yummies.
She's giving away two, so go enter on her blog to get a t-shirt and HOPEFULLY-be my t-shirt twinkie...that is if I win... :)
Here's how to enter :
Leave a comment with your email on her blog and tell her how your weekend was if you did anything fun or just sat around -let her hear about your weekend .
You get 3 entries if you repost this on your blog(CHECK!), twitter, ect just make sure you link back to her ! Good luck ! Also if you win and send in a picture of you wearing your Fancy Lady t-shirt, you may get a chance to be her official Fancy Lady model!(...I wonder if Jasmine could wear a huge shirt...
I think so-Chick can rock anything!!!!

"For those of us who weren't allowed to watch MTV...We sure know how to rock it out now, you AND me!"-Katy Perry

MEG!! You are MADE OF GUM DROPS!!!
So- My friend Meg who sent me the Katy Perry in Japan video sent me this! I see that it's posted on Perez Hilton now, but she sent it to me before I read Perez today, so she gets ALL the CREDIT!!!
Thank you Meg!!!!!
This is a video of Katy Perry performing at 16!!!!!!
This was back when she went by her name- Katy Hudson-and was a contemporary Christian music singer. She's performing at the 'Glass House' Club in Pomona, CA!

She has SO much personality! I can't say enough how much I'm inspired by this chick-I heard her music one day and was doing my disco point in the car-it was pure ear magic-Then I saw her pic and thought she looked just like Zooey Deschanel-WHO I LOVE, so points there, but she's not copying Zooey-they both have distinct styles! Finally-After seeing her perform and talk, her personality just felt very real, querky, and playful-That's how I try to live my life-She just felt like a kindred spirit(and neither of us were allowed to watch MTV-actually, I remember the FIRST time I saw MTV being in 10th grade!! when I saw a 'No Doubt' video playing on a friends tv). Her parents are both ministers now, but before they got saved they had quite a wild lifestyle-her mom went on a date with Jimi Hendrix! My parents had the same experience.
Also-I'm pretty sure both she and I grew up as the "Pink Sheep" in our families.

ALMOST "Lost in Translation"

THANK YOU to my reader, MEG(You need to start a blog!) -who sent me this video of Katy Perry in Japan!
This was confusing- yet adorable-Let us do it again some time! :)

I agree with Katy that many girls in America love Japan-but I have to add that-in my experience, it's WHITE girls that love it! THIS site explains the phenomenon pretty well!
For me, Japan is like a huge-interactive- doll house with cute characters, whimsical clothes, and tiny houses.

"Does that blow your mind? THAT JUST happened!" - Ricky Bobby

So- Blogger and I had a talk and we came to an agreement: I'm made of golden sprinkles, and it fessed up to being a dirty pirate hooker!
In other news- After visiting 4 'Michaels' stores in the area, I found a store with the Martha Stewart 'Poison' skull and 'Beware' Spider Cupcake Liners I mentioned before IN STOCK!! I may have scared the...confused...sales girl on the phone when I got mouthy because they can't hold items over night, but I got to the store and they were there! Waiting for me! My very own Excalibur, glowing...beckoning....
Then I did what any normal, pink blooded, american southerner would do- I put those magic beans to work! :)
Using THIS recipe, I made a Lemon Cake mix.
1 c. + 2 tbsp. butter, softened
2 1/4 c. sugar
6 eggs, separated
3 1/4 c. all purpose flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1 c. + 2 tbsp. milk
3/4 tsp. lemon rind
1 3/4 tsp. lemon juice
Lemon Filling
Additional lemon rind
Lemon twist
Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed of electric mixer. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Stir in lemon rind and juice. Beat egg whites (at room temperature) until soft peaks form; fold into batter.
Bake 24 cupcakes in lined cupcake pans 18-25 minutes.
By the who-I also got some Wilton Edible Cake Sparkles in purple to match the coloring I planned to do with my frosting on another day(hence my snazzy Dr. Seuss sweater and lack of makeup-It was early in the AM-don't judge me the way I judge you! :)
Only fill the cups HALF way with batter cuz this icing is NOT regular frosting, so you need some of the wrapper to still be visible over the edge of the cakes to work as a...dam. If you put too much, your cupcakes will come out looking like giant, psychedelic muffins/mushrooms of the apocalypse! Here's some evidence:
I also made an icing that my mom and I have been really into for a while-'French Drip Frosting'-It's sort of like having a vanilla(or in this case-a light lemon) flavored ganache. I've never seen it anywhere, and we named it...and thought of it, so I guess we invented it...TAKE THAT, Bill Nye!! :)
'French Drip Frosting' -It's a flavored buttercream frosting that is then combined with a whipped cream.
Here is the recipe for the French Drip Icing:
French Buttercream-
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons corn syrup
1/2 cup water
3 eggs
1 pinch salt
1 pound butter
Put sugar, corn syrup and water in a saucepan over high heat.
Meanwhile, beat eggs and salt until fluffy.
When all of the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is boiling, pour over beating eggs. Cut butter into cubes. When the eggs-sugar bowl is lukewarm to the touch, slowly add butter while continuing to beat until fluffy and smooth.
You then do the whipped cream-
1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Whip cream until almost stiff. Add sugar and vanilla; beat until cream holds peaks.

Combine Buttercream and Whipped Cream and whip together for 1 minute. It should have the consistency of a very slowly moving melted chocolate-but-it should be thick enough that if you hold ur frosted cupcake upside down for a few seconds, the icing does not start to drip. If it is too runny, add confectioners sugar(powdered sugar).

I tinted the frosting a dark purple to keep with the Halloween/sinister theme in the baking cups using Wilton Gel Food Coloring from 'Michaels'(purple and black combo).
Always let the cupcakes cool before frosting!
AND----- Check it out Kittles!!! Cupcakes!!
So- say, "Voila, and Bonjour, light-lemony-rich-taste Nirvana!"
I LOVE that they say "Poison" on them...They just feel SO 'Alice in Wonderland' inspired to me. They belong in those books! ...AND in the movie! "Call me, Tim Burton! We can work something out!" I should get some sodas in bottles and tie "Drink Me" signs on them too!
Here's a tortured one...Tis the fate of all tiny cupcakes. Don't cry for him, Argentina-He took one for the team! :)
If u don't have WAY too much motivation in the baking area of life, I recommend 'Duncan Hines' cake mix and their lemon icing mixed with some 'Dream Whip' to substitute the 'from scratch' recipes. Not as authentically Penny, but still Faboosh!
And- Here's the only usable pic of Jasmine I could get....She did NOT help the team! She almost knocked over my laptop-and attempted to jump high enough to knock over the edible sparkles, but no...She did not help.
Tho- She looked damn cute being useless didn't she?! :)

I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany-And you do THIS to me?! -Ron Burgundy

Dear Blogger,
Happy Monday and a big SCREW YOU!! I did an entire AWESOME post, and ALL the TEXT is MISSING!!!! What. The. F$@#?!! I'd NEVER do something like that to YOU! ...until now. In the following video the part of me will be played by Andy Samberg-YOU are EVERYBODY else!!
It explains pretty clearly how I feel about you!! ....dirty pirate hooker....evil...hooker....

"...but you're killing people!" "No! I'm killing boys!"

Hold onto your cupcakes, peeps-cuz I'm 35% sure this MAY be shocking to you!
I was watching Peter Travers(movie critic for Rolling Stone) talk about this weekends movies-as I do each week, and the more I heard about 'Jennifer's Body'-the more I wanted to see it.
This is weird because I've seen the trailers and late night talk shows talking about Megan Fox and the lesbian kiss in it, and I just thought it was for sure gonna be a lame horror flick with a naked chick...whatever!
But-He said the script was great and you don't know exactly where the story is gonna go-AND Diablo Cody wrote it!!! YES! She wrote 'Juno'-one of my fav movies EVER!
Micheal Cera-HOTNESS!
He also said the dialogue was snarky like 'Juno', but not like like Juno. AWESOME!
Now- I also DON'T like most horror movies! Many people think it's weird for me to write and read within some bounds of that genre, but dislike the movies-I think it may have something to do with me growing up sheltered and then seeing 'Ernest Scared Stupid' at 13 and being scared for...well...I still can't watch it. Don't laugh! It was almost as terrifying as 'Glitter'! at It's not the scary stuff that makes me not like those movies-It's that there is usually very little useful dialogue, and I don't want to see a slasher movie(aka- Sorority Row, Halloween, etc...). Give me 'Silence of the Lambs'-give me 'Saw' (1 only - the others sucked). THOSE movies had a point.

I hate senseless violence. ...well... except for violence against clowns... In fact, I hate anything in a book OR movie that was put there senselessly-violence, cussing, drugs. If a word or event needs to be there to make the story what it wants to be-I'm for it, but that's the only way I see it.
I think that writers and storytellers should-as long as they know what part of the world needs to hear the story they want to tell-say what the characters deserve to be saying. It's not always pretty-and you can't tie a ribbon around difficult tales, but it's our responsibility to tell them with respect and care- like in the movie 'Groundhog Day'-THAT's character development! :)
It seems this movie may just be a little more than I thought, and that intrigues me. I'll see if I can watch it and report back-I also tend to jump and scream audibly during scary movies, and my bf says he doesn't want to go to anymore of them cuz I scream and toss popcorn. :)
The movie is written by a woman(Diablo Cody-former stripper and homeless chic aficionado ),
directed by a woman( karen Kusama), and stars women(Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried).
I don't mention that in a "woman power" tone(I don't like verbalizing "feminist" propaganda cuz I think it actually sets women BACK when we throw sexism in the faces of men. There are still problems with that in the world-on some level- I think us women pointing it out is what keeps it going cuz men become defensive on top of any real discrimination(like Trump vs. Rosie O'Donnell)-and that amplifies the problem in some cases.
I'm interested to see what could be done differently when women are in charge of what is usually a genre that caters to men. I know that when I read characters written by members of the opposite sex, they seem to...lack an insight whether it's men or women.
Back to the movie-It's about a girl who is possessed, and she kills guys-her bff is trying to stop her.
THIS was my SHOCK of the day!!! :)
Ya''ll gonna see it?! Opinions?
