I made a cake last night for Jason's fellow teacher's B-Day!
It's a vanilla cake dyed pink with gel coloring. It has buttercream frosting and Gum Paste Flowers that I made myself. I added a plastic backed pink ribbon around the base and got some awesome pink food coloring in a spray form. I really like frosting covered cakes more than fondant since fondant is so disgusting to eat, so I've started my journey of perfecting the non-fondant cake! The top of the cake was not level though I eye-balled it and tried to make it even- That was the only problem I had with the whole project... I hope I can get one of those expensive "leveler" things one day- That would save a lot of time and work.
...the cake kinda reminds me of an Easter egg....no?!
Now, I colored the vanilla cake with gel food coloring(which does not water down the mix, so it's great!), and it was actually pastel pink when I put the cake it the oven.
It came out ELECTRIC PINK! So's 80's! I love it!
