I LOVE Padma Lakshmi!

I've watched 'Top Chef' for a few years and was ELATED when they replaced the Season 1 host, Katie Lee Joel(yep-Billy Joel's wife!). She was lame and coma inducing. See video below for evidence:

WAKE UP!!! The clips over!!

Anywho- They NEW host, Padma Lakshmi is AWESOME!!

She is a published cookbook author ( Easy Exotic: A Model's Low-Fat Recipes from Around the World, and Tangy, Tart, Hot and Sweet: A World of Recipes for Every Day), she is ORIGINAL and not a Barbie cut out, she's visibly kind to others, AND she has a scar that serves as a brand of individualism.

Check out some pics!

"The accident happened on a Sunday afternoon filled with sunshine. I was fourteen years old and on my way back with my parents from a Hindu temple in Malibu. The traffic was quite heavy for a Sunday. I remember thinking how strange that was. Then there was a loud bang, and I looked out the windshield and saw nothing but the prettiest blue sky. I thought I was dreaming because I'd been nodding off, but then I realized we were part of that blue sky. Our red Ford Mercury sedan was airborne. Flying in a car felt like an exhilarating hallucination, an unbelievable ride that oddly remains one of the most beautiful images in my memory."

OH!! AND She was married to THIS guy!
He's British author Salman Rushdie whose most famous work, The Satanic Verses, prompted Muslims to be up in arms. He received 3 death threats which forced him into hiding for 9 years. He's 60(7 years older than her father!) and she's 39. They married in 2004, but are now divorced.
I'm torn between giving her props for OBVIOUSLY marrying for "love", and utter confusion.
...weird

Katie Lee Joel was TOLD to act cold and robotic by the producers of the show . Her personality is nothing like that, They wanted her to portray a Heidi Klum - type persona to be the one to tell them to 'Pack their knives and go'. I feel bad that she was used by the producers of the show to get the first season launched and then replaced with Padma. Television is a nasty racket. Katie Lee is doing very well with regular appearances on the CBS Early Show, the Paula Dean show and many others.
